چکیده

Introduction Invasive electrophysiology study and catheter ablation are relatively safe procedures with only rare complications. A circular mapping catheter is commonly used to localize abnormal foci within the atria and thoracic vein. Entrapment of the circular mapping catheter in the mitral valve (MV) apparatus has been reported previously by Wu et al, who noted serious complications following the catheter retrieval procedure. In the present case, the circular catheter was inadvertently mispositioned into the right ventricle, entrapped, and broken in the tricuspid valve (TV) apparatus during the mapping of premature atrial complexes (PACs) from the right atrium (RA) in a patient with frequent episodes of palpitation who underwent a cardiac electrophysiology study (EPS) and eventually catheter ablation. In the present case report, we describe the successful retrieval of the fragment by a percutaneous transfemoral venous approach.

Circular mapping catheter entrapment in the mitral valve apparatus: a previously unrecognized complication of focal atrial fibrillation ablation.

Radiofrequency catheter ablation of focal atrial fibrillation triggers within the pulmonary veins is a rapidly developing therapy that relies on both recent technologies and evolving techniques. We describe the entrapment of a circular mapping catheter within the mitral valve apparatus after transseptal catheterization and mapping of the left atrium and pulmonary veins. The occurrence of this p...

Right sided heart evaluation after successful mitral valve replacement.

Introduction: It is well-documented that right-sided heart dysfunction and significant tricuspid valve regurgitation (TVR) have adverse effects on patient outcomes after left-sided heart valve surgery. Therefore, the evaluation of right ventriclular (RV) function and TR severity in patients who had undergone mitral valve replacement (MVR), associated with/without concomitant su...

Unusual site of guide-wire entrapment during central venous catheterization.

We are reporting a case of possible entrapment of guide wire in the region of tricuspid valve, which made it impossible to remove the guide wire from internal jugular (IJ) vein for a short while. Awareness about this rare complication is emphasized.

Entrapment of permanent pacemaker lead as the cause of tricuspid regurgitation.

Transthoracic 2-dimensional (D) echocardiography (echo) is often used to assess tricuspid regurgitation (TR) after implantation of permanent pacemakers. However, its ability to define the precise anatomical relationship between the tricuspid valve and the pacemaker lead is quite limited. This report presents a 58-year-old male with aggravation of TR after pacemaker implantation for heart block....
